10,000 Birds Conservation Club give-aways

conservation club logoStill not sure whether it’s worth spending 25USD/15GBP to join the 10,000 Birds Conservation Club?

Okay, how about a list of the give-aways we’ve - er, given away since we launched in December 2009…

Remember our Members have had the chance to enter every single one of these give-aways, and if this little list (which is growing all the time!) doesn’t convince even the most sceptical reader of our genuinely good intentions and the fantastic support the Conservation Club is already receiving from authors, publishers etc then - er, then I guess we’ll just have to try even harder (that’s the 10,000 Birds way, you know).

December 2009 give-aways:

January 2010 give-aways:

  • Russell Slack donated a copy of his superb and critically-lauded “”Rare Birds, Where and When: An analysis of status and distribution in Britain and Ireland. Volume 1: sandgrouse to New World orioles”. Unsurprisingly our UK members piled in and the odds were high one of them would get it - which one indeed duly did…
  • Award-winning photographer Steve Hutchcraft donated TWO copies of his beautiful childrens ‘alphabet and birds’ book ‘B is for Bufflehead‘. Two of our North American members won this delightful book.
  • In our first give-away competition run jointly with another blogger, Grant MacCreary of Prairie Spring: A Journey Into the Heart of a Season‘ and Kate Davis’ ‘Falcons of North America‘. The two books were one by one of our North American members.

February 2010 give-aways:

  • February’s give-aways got off to a fantastic start thanks to birding’s best-known couple, Kenn and Kim Kaufman, who gave us THREE full sets of ALL FIVE of Kenn Kaufman’s superb field-guides to give-away to members. The three sets all went to North American members.
  • We also gave away Laura Erickson’s excellent ‘The Bird Watching Answer Book’, which we reviewed in January 2010. My personal review copy went to a member in North America.

March 2010 give-aways:

  • Our first give-away in March was a brand-new copy of the 2nd edition of what is often called ‘the best field-guide in the world’ - the ‘Collins Bird Guide‘. Somewhat surprisingly North American members piled in for this one, and it duly went to a member in New York.
