As if proof were really needed…

We’ve had a fantastic response to our latest give-away competition, and the emails have been pouring in. Sadly, though, a few cynical readers/visitors have hinted in those emails that they think that things are not all - well - ‘above aboard’, that we may have ever so slightly ‘bent the truth’ in the way that we said our winners are being chosen. That there is not - in fact - a jammy finger!

To tell the truth I’m shocked and disappointed that anyone could believe that I would make up something so ridiculous, so I’ve gone to enormous expense and tremendous personal cost (oh, okay, not really, I just had to buy some jam and allow my daughter Evie to randomly make sticky imprints all over my precious lap-top) to prove that here at 10,000 Birds our word is our bond and that the truth is the truth and that’s that etc etc.

So, here, in the interests of providing the proof I’m sure no-one really needs, are some completely unfixed and 100% above-board photos showing the exhaustive process we’ve gone through to ensure our entrants are chosen at random by a surprisingly willing volunteer…

Our volunteer readies herself…

…and applies herself once…

…twice…

…three times…

…before reaping the rewards of all her labour.

Hopefully, that’s the end of the matter - and I can get on with cleaning my screen now… :)

He wants to be a writer, and thinks no-one would believe his life could be so charmed if he didn't take photos of as many of the birds he sees as possible. Blogging with 10,000 Birds fits his aims, needs, and insecurities perfectly. Really - do birders get much more fortunate than this?

  1. Very nice. What’s that… lingonberry?

  2. Never heard of lingonberry Mike (apologies to all the lingonberry farmers out there reading this but that’s the way things are I’m afraid). It’s actually my favourite jam - Sainsbury’s Organic Raspberry Conserve (we’re posh round our house I tell you).

  3. I never doubted! Cutest jammy finger ever!

  4. “The jammy finger” sounds very British. Was that a Monty Python skit? It has a woody sound to it.

  5. It’s nice to see such a cute face attached to that random jammy finger.

  6. Hi All. I’ve been taken a little by surprise by the number of e-mailers saying how cute Evie is - with that jammy finger and runny nose, really? Just joking, she is very cute and very loving and Jo and I are very lucky indeed to have her with us. Thankyou everyone for your kind words :)

Seth, I grew up quoting Monty Python endlessly and I’ve no doubt at all that as an adult I’m still being subconsciously impacted upon!
