10,000 Birds Month in Review: August 2003

By Mike August 31, 2003 No comments yet

This officially closes out 10,000 Birds’ very first month. Starting a birding blog must have pleased the avian spirits because the very next day, we spotted our very first Eastern Screech-owl!

The Core Team has been all over the Tri-state area this month, hitting the Great Swamp, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center, Constitution Marsh, and Doodletown Road as well as Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge not once but twice. Suffice to say, the birding has been outstanding.

I’ve also started to explore Reasons to Become a Bird Watcher, focusing first on simplicity, ubiquity, and lifelong applicability. Perhaps more significantly, I looked at Sports Teams with Bird Names, a resource that will serve as a resource for web surfers for years to come.

These are just some of the highlights of my first month of blogging. What was your favorite post on 10,000 Birds this month?
