On our recent trip to Kununurra we encountered a rather odd looking bird. At Ivanhoe’s Crossing there were numerous Crimson Finch drinking and bathing on a regular basis, but on several occasions we saw a bird that had missed out on the “crimson” feature of the Crimson Finch. The markings were identical, but instead of red the bird was orange. It was interesting to note that it interacted well with the other birds and was obviously accepted despite its odd looks. We presume the bird was a leucistic Crimson Finch…what do you think?
