On our recent trip to Kununurra we encountered a rather odd looking bird. At Ivanhoe’s Crossing there were numerous Crimson Finch drinking and bathing on a regular basis, but on several occasions we saw a bird that had missed out on the “crimson” feature of the Crimson Finch. The markings were identical, but instead of red the bird was orange. It was interesting to note that it interacted well with the other birds and was obviously accepted despite its odd looks. We presume the bird was a leucistic Crimson Finch…what do you think?

I think It’s new for the australia flora,this bird.’But it is a so called yellow mutation of a cromso finch.
even so this is a hen,who will breede next year whit eder anomal cock or maby the one whit the orange thail.
In The Netherlands is the yellow mutation from the crimson in avery’s wellnone.’
I have seen one photo froma pair in australia afew yaers ago on the internet,but can find it any more.
but you can find that in the ausralia finch forum (google) for that and try to find crimson finches.
