Happy 2nd Masemas

Today is the international celebration of Masemas, the birthdate of our beloved Mason Hopkins Bergin. What a kid!

Mason on his second birthday

Despite my own incredible love for the lad, I have to admit that I’m quite taken aback at how quickly observance of Mason’s birthday has spread. He’s only two, but throughout the United States, millions of people are wearing green in acknowledgement of Mason’s passion for the outdoors. Parades, parties, and even ferocious drinking contests are being held in his honor from coast to coast. Amazingly, even college students, usually an apathetic lot, embrace this new holiday with gusto! Of all of these unbelievable gestures of support and love, the one flourish that touches me most is the symbolic display of four-leaf clovers, a universal token depicting good luck. Sara and I thank all of you for these warm, clearly sincere wishes of auspicious fortune for Mason. Just don’t hurt yourself celebrating!
