Hummingbirds at Dusk
By a Guest • September 8, 2010 • 8 commentsA week or so ago I was sent an email by a reader named Jimer asking if I’d like to see some photos of a Red-tailed Hawk being whalloped by a mockingbird. The photos, she said, were a little bit distant which they indeed turned out to be (good, but a little distant).
She added though that she would send a few photos of her hummingbird feeders which she said were attracting good numbers of hummers, though she doubted whether I could identify all the species involved from her photos. I couldn’t, but if you read the comments, you’ll find out what birds are featured in these exquisite photos…

These photos are beautiful. Hummers are one of my favorites because of their playful/quarrelsome nature. Great job getting these pics framed like you did. You have a real talent for it.
Thatsa lotsa Annas!

Wow, these shots are gorgeous. And I love the deer those hummingbird feeders are hanging on!
Rick – I just knew someone would make a confident ID
Jimer has no less than 50 hummers at her nearly dozen feeders. A thrill a minute!! And 100 pounds of sugar since the Summer began!! It’s nice to see she has published them with you.

@Nancy: Oops…I’m sure Charlie will make the correction in the morning (he’s British so he is sound asleep right now).
Nancy, Jimer – Oops indeed Huge apologies. I’m currently glowing redder than a Robin’s breast! Corrections made, and apologies once again.
Wow, what great pictures. I love hummers but we only get the ruby-throated hummingbird here in the eastern US. Jimmer thanks for submitting them to this site.
