Liveblogging the Midwest Birding Symposium

By Mike September 19, 2009 7 comments

Yesterday, I gave a presentation at the Midwest Birding Symposium on birding and nature blogs around the world. Today, Sharon Stiteler and I are blogging live from the Birder’s Marketplace here at the MBS, spreading the word about how blogs are an essential component of a well-balanced media blend.

We are really having a tremendous time here. The turnout is impressive and the atmosphere electric. Many of your favorite birding authors, bloggers, and guides are here. And, I should point out, Ohio offers some outstanding birds; I can scarcely believe I’ve seen two life birds since I live to the east on the same latitude. I’d love to show you photos or mention some of the more noteworthy snippets of the symposium thus far but I’m blogging on a Mac and can barely stand it.

  3. Corey,

Sorry I missed you at the Symposium. Glad you had a great time with all the rest of us at Lakeside. Great weather. Great place. Great presenters. Great birds. Not enough time to do everything.

  4. @amishcountry: You didn’t miss me at the symposium because I wasn’t there!, Mike was…hopefully I’ll make one in the future!

  5. Ouch, not a Mac fan, huh Mike? If I could have stayed longer at the table, you could have borrowed my PC! The picture I took of you shows this very post up on the screen. Glad you had such a great time. I had a blast as well.

  6. MIke–

You’re killing me! “…I’m blogging on a Mac and can barely stand it?” It burns, it burns!

Although I will say one thing: you’re one of the few people I’ve ever seen produce a decent-looking presentation using PowerPoint. And not only that, PC PowerPoint exported to a Mac. It’s like you’re one of those one-legged Olympic skiers or something. You’ve triumphed despite your handicap.

    XXXOOO,

    Jeff

  7. Ha, Jeff! I knew that comment would burn people. Honestly, I was completely lost without right-click functionality. How do you do it?!? Anyway, I appreciate your compliment.
