The Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust, The Peregrine Fund and the Madagascar Government are undertaking a joint project to save the Critically Endangered Madagascar Pochard Aythya innotata - the rarest duck in the world, no more than 25 are left in the wild - from extinction. A recent survey trip to Madagascar has been excellently blogged in four parts on Durrell’s ‘dodo’ blog which are linked to from the blog homepage at http://blog.durrell.org/. Well worth checking out!

He wants to be a writer, and thinks no-one would believe his life could be so charmed if he didn't take photos of as many of the birds he sees as possible. Blogging with 10,000 Birds fits his aims, needs, and insecurities perfectly. Really - do birders get much more fortunate than this?
