Skilled Birders needed in New Jersey

By Charlie June 18, 2009 2 comments

Cape May Bird Observatory needs counters for fall 2009’s Cape May Morning Flight count, Avalon Sea Watch, and Cape May Hawk Watch. Morning Flight averages 280,000 birds per season, Sea Watch about 700,000, and the Hawk Watch about 50,000. They’ll even pay you a little to see all these birds! Charlie works for an airline and has birded all over the world for twenty years. He wants to be a writer, and thinks no-one would believe his life could be so charmed if he didn't take photos of as many of the birds he sees as possible. Blogging with 10,000 Birds fits his aims, needs, and insecurities perfectly. Really - do birders get much more fortunate than this?

  1. Charlie, this sounds like an excellent opportunity and a dream job. Too bad I live so far away and I’ve already gone on my birding expedition for the year. I’d jump at the chance. For this weekend I am birding in Central Park in New York City for the first time ever. I’m visiting my brother there but I live in Tucson. Not a bad place to live for someone who loves birds!

  2. Hmmm… I do need field work for the fall. Too bad I have no real hawk- or seawatch experience.
