Study highlights apalling waste in fishing industry

We’ve posted before about the short-sighted exploitation of what are coldly called “fish stocks” - eg What’s orange and used to live in the sea? Now comes news of a study that shows that “Nearly two-thirds of all fish caught commercially in Britain are rejected and thrown back into the ocean dead.” With both fish and seabird populations everywhere plummetting isn’t that not only economically insane but morally totally indefensible?

  1. With overfishing such a problem already, it sucks that so much is entirely wasted like that.
