The Fifth Copy of BIRD Goes To…

Christine Guarino! This giveaway depended on ideas of great holiday gifts for birders, of which we received many. For some inexplicable reason, the judges found favor with Christine’s suggestion of 10,000 Birds T-shirts and I BRAKE FOR BIRDS bumper stickers as ideal gifts for birders. We recognize a sharp gift-giver when we see one; Christine fits that bill to a tee (shirt). Since it is better to give than receive (and we already have our stylish 10,000 Birds T-shirts) we’re pleased to present Christine with our fifth and final copy of BIRD: The Definitive Visual Guide.

But the bestowal of books doesn’t end there. Thanks to the generosity of our friends at Houghton Mifflin, we had three more books to give away:

Of course, we’re all winners for receiving a long list of thoughtful, targeted gifts for the bird watchers in our lives!

This concludes the BIRD: The Definitive Visual Guide Giveaway. We hope you’ve enjoyed this promotion and the limericks, site suggestions, essays, and gift ideas generated. The whole thing has certainly been a heck of a lot of fun for us! Many thanks to Carroll Beauvais of DK Publishing for his extreme generosity in putting up five copies of the brilliant BIRD for our readers. Thanks as well to the terrific Taryn Roeder of Houghton Mifflin. Last but not least, thanks to everyone who participated in each of our contests. If you didn’t win this time, rest assured there will be other opportunities in the new year!

  1. Hey Guys.

I just wanted to take the time to publicly thank you, not only for the book (which I await with bated breath), but more importantly for the opportunity to get one and for your generosity.

    Thanks.

  2. You’re most welcome, Clare. We’re really grateful to you and everyone else for making the whole thing so much fun.
