Variable Antshrike Thamnophilus caerulescens

Variable Antshrike Thamnophilus caerulescens:

There are 12 subspecies of Variable Antshrike (there may be more than one species involved), and males are highly “variable” across its wide range - which is from Peru and Bolivia to Paraguay, northern Argentina and southern Brazil, with a disjunct population in north east Brazil. The bird below is a female.

A common species, Variable Antshrikes are normally found in the lower growth of forests, usually seem to be seen in pairs and are often conspicuous members of bird parties.

He wants to be a writer, and thinks no-one would believe his life could be so charmed if he didn't take photos of as many of the birds he sees as possible. Blogging with 10,000 Birds fits his aims, needs, and insecurities perfectly. Really - do birders get much more fortunate than this?
