This weekend sees the end of the first twelfth of the Gregorian calendar year 2009. It also marks the beginning of the Chinese calendar year 4706. Whether you follow a lunar, solar, or liturgical calendar, you only get so many weekends a year. Don’t squander a single one! What are your plans for this weekend and will you be watching birds? Comment below on the excitement you have planned!

I’ll be hanging around Rochester waiting to see what comes our way. Redpolls, anyone? But the birds I’ll be watching most intensely will definitely be Cardinals… Super Bowl Sunday is one of my favorite holidays of the year! Corey will be roaming around NYC looking for birds and trouble. Charlie, lucky Charlie, will be in Mauritius this weekend.  If this excursion is anything like his last one, we’re in for some astonishing trip reports!

Whatever you do this weekend, wherever you’re watching the big game, make time to enjoy Sky Watch Friday

We end Parrot Month as we began it, with a Skywatch photo of Monk Parakeets in the urban wild.
These birds were snapped by Corey during his recent jaunt to Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn
