Here in the United States, we’re looking at a long and hopefully lovely Independence Day weekend. Ironically, we only call this holiday by its proper name when addressing an international audience; around these parts, we just call it the 4th of July! So how are you spending your July 4th weekend and will you be birding? Share your plans in the comments below.

Long weekends like these demand fun, family get-togethers. Corey and I will both be hanging with our respective clans. Birds may be seen. Neither of us are likely to be at the beach but I implore those of you who will be to heed the warning of American Bird Conservancy to be mindful of the many beach-nesting birds that will be tending to young birds and even some remaining eggs

Whatever your plans this weekend, make time to enjoy SkyWatch Friday. Also be sure to come back Monday to share your best bird of the weekend!

Enjoy dramatic skies over festive events!
