While the autumnal equinox is still more that a month away, for most of us, summer is almost over. Have you accomplished what you meant to this summer? I have, but now I’m too exhausted to do anything else! How about you? Where are you going this weekend and will you be watching birds? Comment below on the excitement you have planned!
I’m finally home for a weekend but will be entertaining guests, and thus unable to appreciate more than my backyard birds. Charlie will be back from Hong Kong and gearing up for Nigeria and who knows where else. Corey will be birding in an undisclosed location; if you spot him out on the trail, keep it quiet!
As you prepare for yet another outstanding August weekend, be sure to celebrate Sky Watch Friday…
Watch the skies for giant gulls, like this Great Black-backed Gull (photo by Corey)
Very nice photography. Always good to see what you have been up to. This one is stunning to me.

I´m birding from my balcony. Beautiful your bird pictures.
Love that shot…
Where will I be birding today?
I think I’m going to get going now and see what kind of sunrise is going on out at Çhina Camp this mornig… I’m sure I’ll run into some birds — always do…
I started in Florida and traveled to Louisiana yesterday. Took pictures of wheeling gulls in Mobile, Alabama, and hope to get some birding done out on my husband’s family farm in Crowley, LA. There would be a lot more to see during the fall migration but I’ll just have to settle for whatever is in the rice fields. Which should be spectacular! I don’t have a fabulous carmera — yet — but hope to have one soon. Until then I look at other people’s bird-graphs.
Always great to see something a little different for skywatch. Great shot.
I’ll be birding Conejohela Flats on the Susquehanna River south of Harrisburg, PA. One of the best (and only) shorebird spots in the state.
Cool shot! I hope I can be out and about in Central Florida! Hope the weather will be game! 🙂
Cheers, Klaus
I thought I would be birding only on the net, but even that didn’t work out. Some weeks are like that, ya know?
so glad you guys have joined skywatch!
