White-eyed Slaty Flycatcher Melaenornis fischeri Nairobi, Kenya. January 2004 and June 2006

A locally common resident in the highlands of East Africa (Nairobi is situated at 1660 metres (5450 feet) above sea level.), south to Malawi and Zambia. Occurs in highland forest, forest margins, and scrub: in Nairobi it is a familiar bird in gardens and is often quite approachable.

The first photograph below was taken behind the Nairobi Museum, the rest were taken in the gardens of Karen Blixen’s House in January 2004, which is close to the Langata AFEW Giraffe Sanctuary.

Charlie works for an airline and has birded all over the world for twenty years. He wants to be a writer, and thinks no-one would believe his life could be so charmed if he didn't take photos of as many of the birds he sees as possible. Blogging with 10,000 Birds fits his aims, needs, and insecurities perfectly. Really - do birders get much more fortunate than this?
