Though we just recently had a diabolical quiz regarding wood-warblers I thought is was time that we had another. Like the last one, this will involve pictures of wood-warblers seen in New York and New Jersey over the last couple of weeks. I think the level of diabolicalness might be a bit less then that of the last one but, as I always say, I am a lousy judge of such things.
Like we have done for previous diabolical quizzes, you are to use the comments to provide the common name of the bird in each image. The winner is the one who gets the most correct answers soonest and wins the adulation of everyone. I will check in occasionally and see how folks are doing and, if necessary, drop a hint or two.
Good luck!

Diabolical? It remains to be seen…

3. Sedge Warbler
Nailed it.
Oh wait, are we talking about those phoney american “warblers”???
female American Redstart… all of them?
Magnolia, Cape May, Hooded. Or if you’re really diabolical, all Cape May.
American Redstart, Tennessee, Hooded?
1. American Redstart
2. Tennessee

Magnolia Warbler, Magnolia Warbler, American Redstart

Thus far two out of three have been answered correctly and no one has gotten more than two.

3. Tennessee
1. American Redstart
2. Palm Warbler
3. Palm Warbler

1. American Redstart
2. Black-throated Blue Warbler
3. Palm Warbler
Sadly, none of them shows a Bachmann’s. You’ve got to improve on your Bachmann’s skills, Corey.
Birds 1 and 3 are still the only two that have been correctly identified. That middle bird is much tougher than I thought!
Okay, Redstart, Palm & Palm?
This is too much fun. The bill on the middle bird looks long to me, hence my wacky guesses.
I’ll throw all dignity to the wind and go with Redstart, Common Yellowthroat, and Palm.
Catherine wins again!
No way. COYE was honestly my first guess for the middle bird, but the colors seemed off and I thought the bill looked too long so I talked myself out of it. The other two were not as diabolical!
I lost…but at least this time I could find the birds. 🙂
If you can’t down them – crown them.
I suggest Catherine joins 10,000 Birds and takes over the mystery bird quizzes, so others have a chance again.
Henceforth I would like to be addressed as “The Diabolical Catherine”. Thank you.
But seriously, I’m terrified to do another one anyway. 🙂
