Of course the saying is “April showers bring May flowers” but the volume of rain we had back at the beginning of the month is really paying off here in Queens, NY, with amazing flowers everywhere. Maybe I’m just paying more attention (taking more time to smell the flowers so to speak) but it seems like this spring’s crop of blossoms is much better than my previous two in Queens, especially the trees. All of these shots were taken over the last week in Forest Hills and Kew Gardens, two fine neighborhoods in the best borough of the best city in the world. I hope you enjoy them!
They aren’t birds but blossoms sure can be beguiling!
Corey, these are not flowers, these are a group of birds called wood-warblers, and they are really colourful. In spring, they migrate from South or Central America to their boreal breeding grounds and occasionally, a great number of them will interrupt their migration and come down to roost in trees. This is calles a “Fall-out” and it seems you got very lucky last weekend.
Lovely blossoms and sunlight framed in wonderful photos! keep on posting.
