I couldn’t quite turn a runt among Canada Geese at Genessee Valley Park into a Cackling, so my best bird had to be a flyover Sharp-shinned Hawk. Corey’s Best Bird of the Weekend was one of the several Canvasbacks he saw at World’s Fair Marina in Queens. Canvasbacks are getting more and more difficult to find in New York and this is the last reliable spot in Queens to see them in winter.

The Bullock’s Oriole in Ulster Co. was special, but my favorite birds were the two Turkey Vultures in my home county of Rensselaer. Spring is here!
My BBOTW was a Long-tailed Tit. Nothing special about that, I just like ’em
I like Long-tailed Tits too. My best bird this weekend was a Black Swan, an odd species to see in Karori.
