Two big bits of online birding news!
1. The American Birding Association has announced the launch of Birding News, which will be their takeover of the functions that have long been provided by Birdingonthe.net. It is unclear if Birdingonthe.net will be taken down or if it will redirect to Birding News but, either way, this is exciting news for the ABA!
2. eBird has reached 100,000,000 records in its amazing database of bird sightings. The 100,000,000th record was an American Robin and was reported by 12-year-old Liron Gertsman. Congratulations to both Liron and eBird!
Birdingonthe.net will initially redirect to the new site, and will eventually come down.
Thanks, Nate.
The ABA does know that Canada has three territories in addition to the provinces right?
Do those territories have listservs? If so, we want them included!
My apologies Nate and the ABA. It isn’t your fault we don’t have listservs. At least in Nunavut. Long day with not enough sleep.
That would be amazing indeed, but I think you have a few (6 to be exact) too many zeros in your first note above. Might have to wait a few years to make that claim!
@Mary Ann G: You mean 100,000,000 million isn’t the same as 100,000,000th? Thanks for pointing that out – it is fixed.
