Upon arriving home this evening, despondent about having left my camera behind when watching birds and it not being there when I returned, I posted to a birding listserv about the loss. Within an hour an email that the camera was picked up by a birder and I’m getting it back. Enormous sigh of relief…
I’m buying insurance tomorrow.
Now I need to retrieve it before I post about the unexpected lifer today…
Good night and WHOO-HOO!!!
Birders just rock, that’s all.
Glad someone honest found your camera.
That was very kind of the other birder to retrieve and return the camera.
Birders do rule! That’s awesome!
You know what would REALLY rock?
If someone on their way to Florida picked it up (intending to return it after the trip), unknowingly took a picture of an Ivorybill and give it back to you afterwards with the pic still on your camera’s chip.
Glad you have your camera back!!
And thanks for the link to my owling post!
If I found it, it’d be on eBay about now… JUST KIDDING! Glad you got it back. I know I’d be freaking out if that happened to me.
The response folks gave on the Northern New York Birds listserv was fantastic…can anyone name another activity where you can leave very valuable equipment lying around and have it returned? I can’t.
And what really makes me feel bad is the New York State Trooper who took the incident report pulled over three cars that matched the description someone at the scene gave…I just hope they didn’t get any tickets!
And no Ivory-bills Jochen, but all the pics I took that day were still there.
