What makes your lodge special?
Our Special Location: We are located two hours from the world-famous Iguazu Falls. Yacutinga Lodge and its wildlife refuge are located deep in the pristine part of the Misiones jungle, almost entirely surrounded by the upper Iguazu river – the same river that curves through the National Parks of Argentina and Brazil, and continues to flow southward to form a gigantic horseshoe that becomes the majestic waterfalls.
Our Rainforest: Our deep forests of native trees, lianas, orchids, and impressive sounds of nature are the home of several species of plants and animals, such as the Palms and Rosewood. Also conserved, a third of the country?s bird population, coexist in perfect harmony with colorful toucans and more than 570 species of butterflies.
Our organic architecture: This eco-tourist resort displays style and creativity, ensuring that the architecture “nests” among the lush vegetation. Therefore, only 4 hectares were used for constructing the lodge area, achieving exceptional surface and land use management.
Amongst the green, the lodge is a comfortable refuge in complete harmony with the environment. The buildings, with soft, rounded lines and natural terrain slopes, blend perfectly with the environment. Materials collected from the site, such as rocks and fallen trees were included in the design, strengthening the conservation philosophy of the enterprise.

What is the best time to visit your lodge, and why?
For birdwatching, since this is an evergreen forest with 4 seasons, the South Hemisphere winter is great for Trogons, Woodpeckers, and Toucans as they are all relatively easy to spot since they show up while nesting and knocking. During the warm season (October to April) all creatures create a complicated chaos. Plenty of insectivorous and fruit eaters are easily observed. Owling is great during summer. However, owl activity starts early during the cold months of wintertime, making it more comfortable.

Is your lodge involved in conservation efforts? If yes, please describe them.
Yes. Through our way in providing services based on low-impact tourism, we protect the exclusive Yacutinga Private Reserve without any additional governmental assistance. This is not another hotel nested in the Interior Atlantic Rainforest. It is a conservation project based on sustainable tourism.
What other suggestions can you give to birders interested in visiting your lodge?

Do you have activities for non-birders? If so, please describe.
We offer other experiences like the Yacutinga experience program (A 2-night experience) and the 3-night origins program. These programs include different ecotours guided by environmental guides: a Nature walk along the Yacutinga trails, a Kayak trip through the waters of the Jungle. We paddle along the San Francisco Stream and the Upper Iguassu River, the same river that meandering downstream forms the Falls..
