The beats are on the move, exploring new places. That bodes well for the numbers this month. And of course, we have an extra day to play with this year.

Corey’s trip to Jamaica adds to the ever-growing list of places visited (56) and adds a wealth of endemics to the life list which currently sits at 4001. You may notice that the list only reaches as far as 879 even though I claimed that there were 928 species recorded during February. This is a failure on my part to be at my computer terminal 24/7. Beats often labour late into the night for your list-viewing pleasure and they are frequently in different time zones to the list compiler (yours truly). So whilst lists may have been submitted on time in the beats’ various time zones, it may have already tripped over to March in mine. Sadly, eBird reset the counters at midnight local time, so I have to extract the information as close as possible to midnight. This is not always possible, so occasionally the list may be slightly shorter than advertised.

It is also true that some checklists arrive late, even beyond the accepted lag of an East Coast Time Zone. Yes Corey (he will never read this far, I can say what I like about him), we’re looking at you!
