Corey’s 2011 Year List

This is my list of all bird species seen in 2011.  Because I am lazy on my year lists I follow no particular taxonomy but instead combine the IOC and AOU lists in interesting ways, I think.  If you want to see lists with a proper taxonomy please check out my world life list which follows the IOC checklist or my ABA list which follows the AOU taxonomy.

I begin 2011 with 271 birds on my Queens life list, 453 birds on my ABA life list, and 1,026 birds on my world life list.  In the last two years I have seen 601 species and 604 species.  I currently have absolutely no firm travel plans for 2011, something that I hope will change, though I will start the year off with five days in California before heading back to New York City.  My goals for 2011 are to make it to 285 on my Queens life list, 465 on my ABA life list (which would be one new bird in the ABA per month), 1,200 on my world life list, and see over 600 species for the year.

The list below includes the common and scientific names of each species, as well as the location and date each species was first spotted for the year.  Links are to 10,000 Birds blog posts I have written that include at least one image of the species linked.  Lifers will be in ALL CAPS.  New ABA birds (but not new to my life list) will be denoted with an asterisk (*).
