Meet the New Intern

When we put out the call for the first 10,000 Birds Summer Intern, many of you assumed by my usual flippancy that we were less than serious about the idea. Nothing could be farther from the truth. The three of us are eager to impart some of the lessons we’ve learned during our tenure as nature bloggers and, besides, nobody has ever gotten Corey coffee before! See, there I go again making light of something that matters to us.  Before I turn this entire thing into a travesty, let me announce that we have selected our summer intern!

Alan Pulley is a design engineer for Northrop Grumman Corporation, specializing in computer-aided design and information systems. He lives in SE Virginia with his wife and two children. In his spare time, he enjoys birdwatching, photography, painting, gardening and blogging. Many of you know Alan as the author of the blog Birds ‘n Such where he writes about birding and his outdoor adventures. And, of course, he’s a member in good standing of the Nature Blog Network.

Charlie, Corey, and I are all impressed with Alan’s enthusiasm for nature blogging and genuinely look forward to working with him over the next couple of months. Thanks to everyone else who expressed interest… if all goes well, we may seek an autumn or winter intern!
