I’m deeply saddened at the news that Klaus Peter has passed away. Klaus was a phenomenal nature photographer based out of Florida and a long-time blog friend. The fact that we never met in person does nothing to diminish my sorrow at his passing. Please take a few moments to visit his site Virtua Gallery and browse his remarkable portfolio. Klaus surely made this corner of the web we share a better place.

His beautiful images and kind comments will be sorely missed.
I’ve been following Klaus’s photography via his blog and Flickr groups for a while. Not only was he a wonderful wildlife photographer, he was clearly a mentor for many Florida wildlife photographers, and I always thought I’d run into him on one of my trips down there. What a shock. I see that there will be a Klaus Peter Memorial Walk in Lakeland, FL on November 5th: http://www.flickr.com/photos/heathergreen/6041537091/
