Starting this week, we will have two new series of blog posts, with entries written by various authors.

In the “Ask a Birder” series, we raise questions birders and ornithologists sometimes get asked, and answer them on a level that hopefully is neither too scientific nor too trivial. We will do that on Wednesdays – the frequency depends on our readers’ interest and our writers’ contribution.

In the “Spotlight Species” series, we take a closer look at an individual bird species that we like or find particularly interesting. The posts in this series will be published on Fridays – again, the frequency depends on our readers’ interest and our writers’ contribution.

If you have questions you would like to be answered, or species to be highlighted, please let us know. Or maybe you would like to contribute as a writer?

Written by Kai Pflug
Kai Pflug has been living in Shanghai for 20 years. He only became interested in birds in China – so he is much more familiar with birds in China than with those in Germany. While he will only ever be an average birder, he aims to be a good bird photographer and has created a website with bird photos as proof. He hopes not too many clients of his consulting company read this blog, as they will doubt his dedication to providing consulting services related to China`s chemical industry. Whenever he wants to shock other birders, he tells them his (indoor) cats can distinguish several warblers by taste.
