In the past few months, 10,000 Birds has added quite a few writers – I hope you enjoy their posts. Personally, I think they are excellent.

We will also have two additional series of posts:

One features profiles of bird guides from all over the world, explaining their background, their regions, and their favorite birds. Of course, these profiles also allow interested readers to contact them directly. The series will start today with a profile of Rene Rossouw, a bird guide based in South Africa.

The other is lists of favorites – as one of our writers stated, “Birders love lists”. So, this series will have all kinds of birding-related lists, from favorite birds of England to (maybe) a list of the author’s favorite owls, blue birds, or birding equipment. This series will start in a few days with a list of Sara Jentsch’s favorite bird nests.

How long will these series continue, and how frequently will the posts appear? Well, it depends on you the readers – and on you the writers and bird guides. If you are a reader and enjoy the posts, please motivate our writers by commenting on the posts. If you are a bird guide interested in being profiled, get in touch with me. If you are a writer, please keep writing. And if you are thinking of becoming a writer, stop wondering and start writing!

Written by Kai Pflug
Kai Pflug has been living in Shanghai for 20 years. He only became interested in birds in China – so he is much more familiar with birds in China than with those in Germany. While he will only ever be an average birder, he aims to be a good bird photographer and has created a website with bird photos as proof. He hopes not too many clients of his consulting company read this blog, as they will doubt his dedication to providing consulting services related to China`s chemical industry. Whenever he wants to shock other birders, he tells them his (indoor) cats can distinguish several warblers by taste.
