Categorize that headline as one I never expected to write. Vladimir Putin, president of Russia, took time out from persecuting Pussy Riot and otherwise being a strongman, to pilot an ultralight aircraft leading a flock of cranes on their migration.

Of course, he compared the cranes left behind to his political opponents, calling them “weak.”
