Fall is fully upon the Northern Hemisphere, which means that birds are well and truly on the move. How about you? How are you going to spend this weekend and will you be birding? Share your plans in the comments below.
I’m headed down to NYC for what promises to be a fun and festive outdoor wedding. While raising my glass to toast my good friends’ future happiness, I’ll be keeping an eye out for passing raptors. Corey will be kicking around Queens, where he hopes to encounter good sparrows, great warblers, and maybe a shockingly rare raptor. What a dreamer our boy is. Charlie says that the weather looks horrible for this weekend around his home, so he may well just curl up with a good book. Luckily for Charlie, home looks like this…
Whatever your plans this weekend, make time to enjoy SkyWatch Friday. Also be sure to come back Monday to share your best bird of the weekend!
Last two days at Fraser Hill. Hoping to get my missing hornbills and nuthatches, as well as do a little better on lowland birds after today’s fruitless hunt around the gap.
We have two more days of trying to get Greater Sand Plovers with geolocators back! There’s 20,000 waders…give or take a few….in Roebuck Bay at the moment, so the fact that we have got 4 of the geolocators back so far this week is pretty amazing. Will let you know how we go!
Well, not quite Fraser Hill *sigh* but I’ll probably try and find a migrant or two amidst the forecast rain showers in the fields south of Leimen/Heidelberg.
Again.
Booked on a sunset cruise of Jamaica Bay with two experts pointing out all the shorebirds, waders, raptors, etc. Couldn’t be more excited and hope I get some good photos!
Love the Skywatch Friday photo!
This weekend it will be shorebirds along the south coast of Maine.
I will be in my backyard, out on Lake Jessup and also the St. John’s River – in Geneva/Sanford, FL. Can’t wait for the workday to be over!
Jochen, we are onto the icing now! We got two more geolocators back today! What a team of volunteers we have here…some in their 70’s! 38c was a bit testing, but we are all happy & will try agin tomorrow for a couple more….I guess that’s the candles!
