April is here and with it, a multitude of reasons to get outside. A new season is upon us and birds are on the move. Will you be watching birds or anything else of interest this weekend? If so, let us know what you have planned in the comments below!
I’ll be kicking around New York while Charlie zips back and forth to India. I’m not sure what Corey has planned but he may want to dodge the birders at his local patch after the cruel April Fool’s joke he played on them!
Wherever you are this weekend, make time to enjoy SkyWatch Friday…
Keep your eyes to the skies for rainbows like this stunner Corey spotted over Lago de Yojoa in Honduras
I’ll be birdwatching with BirdLife Cyprus at the Asprokremmos Dam in the Paphos area of Cyprus. 🙂
Working all weekend but I might squeeze an hour or two in early morning to check for migrants in the Easterly sea fret we’re getting.
Brilliant picture of the cumulus and scud.
I shall be birding in the English Lake District (Cumbria) this weekend, including a banding session.
Very nice misty rainbow. I am watching birds here at home in Tucson and maybe down to Rio Rico. The migrants are retuning here also.
Such a gentle rainbow sky.
lovely capture and the added bonus is the rainbow…like that.
have a great weekend.
Our spring migration has been running 1-2 weeks early this spring, but we have had a shortage of all of the orioles to our feeders, so we will be hunting the elusive orioles.
Just a note to bird watchers, the Elegant Trogon is back at Sunny Flat Campground by Portal, AZ.
Thanks for sharing…I posted a rainbow at our farm today! Come on over and see it….a little grainy but I have a better camera now! Was taken a few years ago when we first moved here. I love the subtle feeling when looking at yours. Lu
Off to St. Louis for the Women’s Final Four, but bringing my glasses. The local Audubon folks have been most generous with hints for quick hits… including a report of a Great Horned Owlet. Would love to see another one, but hard to top the three ennui-filled youngsters I saw in Anchorage… lordy, was it two springs ago!?!?
Pondering two jaunts — end of april to Omaha. Dunno why, but haven’t been mid-west birding yet, and there’re some good deals. Unless someone has a better suggestion (fly out the 26th ish)
MIght zip down to Orlando next week, if some last minute deals show up. Fingers crossed!
Lovely rainbow shot, well composed. Thanks for sharing, and hope you are having a wonderful weekend!
Waterfowl migration is getting going here in the twin cities of Minnesota. I meandered around Bloomington, Richfield, and Minneapolis both days. I saw my first egret of the year yesterday and saw my very first ever common loon today. Also, plenty of mallards, coots, gulls, grebes, ring-necked ducks, and mergansers were out and about as well as red-winged blackbirds. I can’t wait for the warblers to show up.
I will be birding in Panama for the first time. Canopy Lodge and Canopy Tower. Trying to add to my more than 900 species! Thankyou for the great info on Panama and other birding spots…
