Keep your eyes to the skies for freaky hybrids!
If you live on my side of the globe–north/south axis, of course–you may be as sick as I am of winter weather. Alas, the long slog to spring will take many, many more frigid, blustery weeks. At least we have birds…
My desire to see boreal specialties pales in comparison to my passion for staying warm and dry. This does not bode well for my birding weekend. On the other hand, the devils that drive Corey to relentlessly hunt rarities keep him warm even in freezing temps. Some birders are both blessed and damned.
How about you? Where will you be this weekend and will you be birding? Share your plans in the comments below.
Whatever your plans this weekend, make time to enjoy SkyWatch Friday. Also be sure to come back Monday to share your best bird of the weekend!
I’ll be looking for Black Stork in Imfolozi.
Going to find a (confirmed) Golden Eagle by the North Carolina/Virginia border. I’m hoping the Rough-legged Hawk that was reported there is still hanging around, as both would be lifers.
I’m gong to put up the feeders at my new house. I did scatter some seed yesterday and three birds came quickly, which was encouraging–a white-throated sparrow, a cardinal, and a hermit thrush!!
We MIGHT visit Stuttgart zoo where I MIGHT find the feral (countable) Yellow-crowned Amazons.
