The month of May has passed and with it the thrills of spring migration. Now is the time in the Northern Hemisphere to get excited about finding birds on their breeding territories. If you live in the more temperate zones of the Southern Hemisphere, I’m frankly not sure what you’re excited about right now! Where will you be this weekend and will you be birding? Share your plans in the comments below.
The North American cohort of 10,000 Birds plans to work close to home this weekend. Charlie, on the other hand, will be yodeling his way through the Bavarian Alps as he co-leads a nature tour. Fun, right?
Whatever your plans this weekend, make time to enjoy SkyWatch Friday. Also be sure to come back Monday to share your best bird of the weekend!
Blue skies over the BBC’s Springwatch Wild Day Out in Southampton
I have to say that Charlie just might travel more than a Timelord. Has anyone noticed a suspicious looking public phone box (or maybe now it would be a cell phone tower) nearby whenever he is around?
As for me, I’m not sure if I will get out birding this weekend but at least around the house, the day starts off with” drunken chicken” sounding Gray-necked Wood-Rails and a variety of other, common birds of coffee plantations in Costa Rica. I might also see the Ringed Kingfisher that flies overhead now and then on its way to some unknown source of water (just saw it after writing that!).
Look like a lovely day out there!!
The birds are in all their glory in South East Ohio! I am enjoying the bird calls as I wake up each morning. It makes it nice that the weather has allowed us to have the windows open for a week or 2 now. I can hear their calls as I rise from bed and start my day.
I will be leading a bird walk at Lema Ranch this weekend and doing some nest box education hoping to get some more folks interested in Bluebird Trails!
I will try to visit our county park here and see if I can see birds. Love to do birding and capturing their beauty. Happy weekend!

The Camargue tomorrow, from the Mas d’Agon to the Salin de Badon to Le Sambuc and then back to Arles; our best chance at some fancy birds like Spoonbill.
Sunday is Rock Sparrow day, with Kingfisher, Alpine Swift, Crag Martin, and Golden Oriole expected, too.
And Monday–I’ll be back in Canada! Tough to believe.
