Oh to be on the Sanetti Plateau in Ethiopia!
March, at least in my part of the world, is living up to its billing as a ferocious starter. Perhaps the time has come, though, to retire the bit about lions and lambs. Who outside of certain parts of Africa thinks about lions during this time of year? In fact, is the volatility of this month even measurably greater at its start than its end in places where lions actually live free? Speaking for just about everyone living in the temperate zones of the Northern Hemisphere, I don’t have big cats on my brain right now. Like you, I’m thinking of birds, particularly the ones winging my way from parts south. Let’s say instead that March comes in like an eagle and out like a dove. What better way to get in the right mindset for spring migration?
Unfortunately, with a busy work schedule, I’ll probably only be thinking of birds this weekend as I’m unlikely to see many. Corey will undoubtedly do better in terms of chasing local avifauna. How about you? Where will you be this weekend and will you be birding? Share your plans in the comments below.
Whatever your plans this weekend, make time to enjoy SkyWatch Friday. Also be sure to come back Monday to share your best bird of the weekend!
We had plans for visiting a mountain area in Hessia but my son got sick, meaning my birding is restricted to urban Heidelberg.
