Notice the change in the length of days? Fall has fallen upon the Northern Hemisphere, while spring is springing in the Southern. This is a time of transformation and peregrination. Birds are on the move… are you? Fall is fully upon the Northern Hemisphere, which means that birds are well and truly on the move. How about you? How are you going to spend this weekend and will you be birding? Share your plans in the comments below.
I’m angling to get out into woods somewhere, even if they’re wet (which they probably will be!) Corey won’t be doing much birding this weekend, but if he does get out, it will be along the coast as NYC has a ton of wind and weather coming from the south. Charlie doesn’t expect many birds either, but hopes to edit the chat he’s recording with BirdLife Malta.
Whatever your plans this weekend, make time to enjoy SkyWatch Friday. Also be sure to come back Monday to share your best bird of the weekend!
Keep your eyes to the skies for migrating raptors like this Osprey over New York
Gorgeous shot of this osprey. That should make 10,001.

hey Mike ~ I think I’m heading down to Cape May. I was recently there for the migration of the monarch butterfly. One of best places for sighting.
Very cool shot! I hope to check out patches of cloud forests upslope from our place and if its not raining, take some photos and do some recording of bird vocalizations.
Thats a great shot. What a thrill to see such a graceful bird in flight!
Hawks, hawks, and more hawks (plus some owls and falcons) over the course of two days at Lenoir Preserve in Yonkers … as the newest board member of the Bronx River Sound Shore Audubon chapter! 🙂
I’m heading to the Florida Keys for some camping with friends but you better believe I’ll be out birding and looking for a Miami Blue butterfly.
I was leading a bird walk for grade schoolers and their parents.
I’m going to check out Castellow Hammock Preserve in Southwest Miami Dade County. I am hoping to see my first Painted Bunting.
