Neither labor nor the rights of the American working class are all that popular these days, but the Labor Day Weekend maintains nearly unanimous support. I’m still unabashedly in favor of this three-day sendoff to the season of sun and sand, though I’d like it more if it didn’t mark the official end of summer. On the bright side, countless millions of kids will be grumbling their way back to school next week. Huzzah! So how are you spending this two- or three-day weekend and will you be birding? Share your plans in the comments below.
Migrants are on the move in New York so Corey and I will both be out there beating the upstate bushes for birds. But first, I’m going to the New York State Fair… wonder what they’re deep-frying this year!
Whatever your plans this weekend, make time to enjoy SkyWatch Friday. Also be sure to come back Monday to share your best bird of the weekend!
Oh to be on the paramo frolicking with Ecuadorian Hillstars at Antisana Ecological Reserve
Very picturesque view!
Enjoy the weekend:-)
Awesome vista of paramo skies! Wish I were in that magical, October-brown habitat too. I will be checking out Costa Ricas first Birding and Nature Festival and helping out with a Cerulean Warbler count in foothill rainforest on Sunday. They should be passing through the country in fair numbers right now. Next, year, festival organizers hope to also host an English-speaking festival.

I’ll just be looking at the common playground and park birds of Heidelberg with my toddler son. Of course, I am only doing this so as not to extinguish Corey’s last glimmer of hope for catching up with me in our little year list competition.
Not sure how the birding will be in Chicago this weekend, with the remnants of Hurricane Isaac pushing up from the south and likely putting the kibosh on some migration. But I’m going to at least try and see what makes it through the storm.
@Mike, do let us know what those deep-fryers hold this year!
