At last, real summer settles in over the Northern Hemisphere. And around here, it definitely feels like summer! Are you folks south of the Equator as excited for your winter as I am for summer?
I don’t expect to enjoy much birding this weekend, since the Rochester International Jazz Festival is rolling into town. A full week of phenomenal weekend demands tremendous focus! Corey, of course, maintains an unswerving commitment to birding and will likely comb the coast of the NYC archipelago for stray shorebirds and vagrant albatrosses.
How about you? Where will you be this weekend and will you be birding? Share your plans in the comments below!
Whatever your plans this weekend, make time to enjoy SkyWatch Friday. Also be sure to come back Monday to share your best bird of the weekend!

I will be birding at the Brazos Bend State Park in Texas.I have spotted a pileated woodpecker nest and will try to get pictures of the adults feeding the chicks.
Probably hit the NJ Botanical Gardens this afternoon, hoping it’s not too hot for a couple of birds.
