Oh to be in Florida enjoying warm weather, exotic avifauna, and serene sunrises!
Can you believe that we in the United States are on the cusp of the last normal weekend of 2013? By normal, of course, I mean a weekend uncomplicated by holiday, pre-holiday, or post-holiday celebration or preparation. Then again, by that definition, some of you may have enjoyed your last normal weekend long ago. However you’d categorize the next few days, make the most of them!
Corey hopes to embark on a pelagic trip this weekend but will chase rare birds wherever the wind blows him. If he finds himself ferried to Western New York, I may even join him. How about you? Where will you be this weekend and will you be birding? Share your plans in the comments below.

Sigh. I really oughtn’t, because the temps are scheduled to be sub-freezing this weekend + wind, but on Sunday I’ll try to rouse myself out of the house to chase the Townsend’s Solitaire enjoying a berry bonanza in a forest preserve on the outskirts of Chicago. Hope you all have better luck — and better weather!
