Like it or not, fall is falling all over the Northern Hemisphere and spring is sprung to the south. But what’s not to like about either season? These magical months of transition feature flora and fauna in flux, which can lead to your year’s best bird watching. So embrace change and get out there!
I’ll be hanging around Rochester waiting for Red Crossbills to fly overhead. Corey plans to canvas the Albany area for oddities, avian and otherwise. How about you? Where will you be this weekend and will you be birding? Share your plans in the comments below.
Whatever your plans this weekend, make time to enjoy SkyWatch Friday. Also be sure to come back Monday to share your best bird of the weekend!
Keep your eyes to the skies for sunset silhouettes!
I’ll be heading to the Detroit River on Saturday to see if the hawks are flying yet. Be nice to get a thousand or so Broad-wings.
Wow!!
With Corey slowly closing in on me in our year list competition, I may have decided that desperate situations call for desperate actions and booked a 7-week trip to Peru and Ecuador starting tomorrow, to add 1.200 speies to my list. That’ll teach him…
Or I may have an invitation to a neighbour’s birthday party in Heidelberg/ Germany on Sunday and spend the entire weekend on various playgrounds and in various backyards there. I am just not sure which is true…
I look forward to guiding a pair of birders on Saturday in the foothill forests of Braulio Carillo National Park, Costa Rica. The birding is always challenging at that site but it is likewise very exciting.
I will be at Marting Mere watching all the Pink Footed and Greylag Geese coming in. I really like you picture. From Findlay
This is an excellent silhouette shot.
