Now that July 4th has passed, is it too soon to observe that summer will be over before we know it? I love summer and look forward to it all year, yet now that I’m in the thick of it, fall feels far too close. Better enjoy this blistering heat while it lasts! How will you enjoy your summer weekend and will you be birding? Please share your plans in the comments below.
Neither Charlie nor I have any formal birding planned for the weekend. Corey, on the other hand, will be doing a seawatch Saturday morning. Good man!
Whatever your plans this weekend, make time to enjoy SkyWatch Friday. Also be sure to come back Monday to share your best bird of the weekend!
Bright skies above El Valle in Panama, home of the amazing Canopy Lodge
In my fridge: southern Germany is expecting 40°C (around 100°F) this weekend.
Summer has ended here in the country and they said the rainy has officially started but until rain seldom falls, so maybe this weekend I still can go hiking!
Welcome to the club, Jochen … that’s what NY and surrounding environs has been putting up with all week.
Once the weather supposedly breaks this weekend, I’m going to try to get out to a local preserve with some pretty sweet Bank Swallows and other birds.
I will be birding this weekend in SE KS rain or shine. Great shot!
@Meredith: at least I will finally find out whether the light stays on or goes out after the door of the fridge is closed. If it stays on, I’ll be looking at the bright side of the heat. If it goes out, I guess I’ll be looking for owl and nightjars…
@Jochen: Maybe if the light stays on you will be seeing some chicken, duck, or goose?
B/t/w excuse the brain freeze … I meant barn swallows. A trip to the coffee machine is clearly overdue.
Well, I was supposed to be visiting my sister in the Scottish Highlands, targeting the Dragonflies, some of the orchids and butterflies, plus of course the special birds of the Highlands.
Unfortunately a stomach bug has put paid to that. May be well enough to get out locally over the mext few days.
