While some parts of the world set the second weekend of May apart for celebration of mothers, you’re going to have to restrict adoration of your favorite maternal units to Sunday. Saturday is Global Big Day, which has to be all about the birds. Maybe you can really spread the love by persuading the moms in your life (or your children if you are a mom) to go birding?
Believe it or not–I can scarcely believe it myself–we’re dealing with snow here along the Great Lakes. Unseasonable cold temperatures may chill spring migration but not my eagerness to greet any new arrivals. Corey feels the same way and is willing to gently massage the warmth into any migrants (avian only, thanks) needing a boost to make it to the Boreal regions. How about you? Where will you be this weekend and will you be birding? Share your plans in the comments below.
Whatever your plans this weekend, make time to enjoy SkyWatch Friday. Also be sure to come back Monday to share your best bird of the weekend!
My husband and I will be heading out bright and early to bird along the Potomac river in Maryland on the C&O canal. There were lots of great birds there last weekend (spotted our first chestnut sided and yellow warblers) and hoping it holds up!
Is this Dover Castle?
Yes, that is most certainly Dover Castle, Redgannet, and you know when I took the picture!
