Happy St. Patrick’s Day to those of you who celebrate the day we can all be at least a little bit Irish. And a very happy Masemas for anyone who observes my son Mason’s birthday (probably not as many as the last group!) While we’re celebrating, let’s have three cheers for the coming equinox. On my side of the Equator, the future is growing a whole lot brighter. What, with so much to celebrate, will you be doing this weekend and will you be birding? Share your plans in the comments below.
My mother, mother-in-law, and godmother are all visiting right now. Mama mia, no birding for me! Corey, a mean mother himself, will be birding locally in Queens, which could mean anything from seawatching to looking for his first phoebe of spring.
Whatever your plans this weekend, make time to enjoy SkyWatch Friday. Also be sure to come back Monday to share your best bird of the weekend!
Look to the skies for flocks of waterfowl on the wing! (more migratory sky shots here)
Fabulous view of the sky full of life
Wow, that’s a lot of birds! It makes a great SWF post.
such a beautiful migration… life moving onward.
I do most of my birdwatching right from my computer chair looking out my den window to my back yard. We feed them year around here and are “blessed” to have a wild variety and abundance of birds. That’s not to say I don’t get off my chain and go for a drive or walk occasionally. Turkeys, 3 or 4 species of woodpeckers, all kinds of song birds grace our view constantly. Almost time for hummers to make there appearance. As I said, we are blessed. Hope you have a great day.
Cool capture!
Have a terrific weekend.

Awesome … I love this shot! Gorgeous colorful sky and all the birds makes it special!
I haven’t seen such many birds flying at the same time. Very lovely scene.
Please visit my Skywatch Friday entry too if you have time 🙂
Have a blessed weekend!

My Skywatch Friday
Lovely sky and birds…lots of birds 🙂
Wow, it’s my first time to see so many flying birds on the sky…
Wow, “skywatch” takes over … 😉
I’ll be birding (and watching the sky as we are expecting rain) … around my stompin’ ground south of Heidelberg. Nothing exciting to be expected, but the first swallows have been observed in the area. Spring, spring, sproing! There, I said it, “sproing”. And “spring has sprung”! Haaaaa. I win, I bet I am the first one this year to use these terms.
How cool’s that!?
Awesome migration image!
I will be birding the foothill rainforests of Quebrada Gonzalez, Braulio Carrillo National Park, Costa Rica. I hope it doesnt rain the entire time!
Happy Masemas!
Wow!
I’ll be birding Floyd Bennett Field (Brooklyn, NYC) Saturday. On Sunday I’ll have a big day and try to bird all of Alley Pond Park (Queens, NYC), from APEC to Oakland Lake, the Oaks section, the kettle ponds and end at the walking trails in the southwest section of the park.
@ Jochen the swallows have arrived at NYC at Jamaica Bay National Wildlife Refuge too. Spring peepers are calling there now also, or should they be called sproing peepers? 😉
Amazing. A perfect shot. Well done.
Have a nice weekend.
We are experiencing some incredible migratory bird watching right now. All conditions are perfect here in central South Dakota for the waterfowl travelers. Stop by our blog for some nice shots and share the experience!!
This is a fantastic capture of birds in flight and stunning colors in the sky.
