Here we are in the thick of autumn, a fallow period for many birders. Unless you’re close enough to the equator to still be experiencing serious bird movement, you’re confronted with the same old same old. Or not! As one set of species moves out, another comes in. Take a moment, catch your breath, and get back out there to see who’s new in the neighborhood! What are you doing this weekend and will you be watching birds? Comment below on the excitement you have planned!
I’m still unpacking my phenomenal trip to the Rio Grande Valley and Charlie is doing the same for his recent Singapore sojourn. At least we can count on Corey to relentlessly patrol the New York Metro region for special sightings. Good man!
Whatever you plan to do this weekend, be sure to celebrate Sky Watch Friday…
I daresay few of you have witnessed an Eastern Broad-billed Roller soaring over Singapore’s Central Catchment Reserve at dawn (check Charlie’s account for more photos of this and other birds)
The reflection is amazing! Perfection:)
A simply stunning shot – the fantastic reflection, the peaceful water, and the rare occurrence – lovely. Thanks for sharing!
Amazing capture. Simply brilliant.
What a shot, stunning. That’s quite a reflection you have there. One of the best.
Spectacular photo!
Me, I’ll be looking at ducks on the ponds in Tucson’s city parks, maybe finding a junco or a Lewis’s Woodpecker or such, too.
No, I can’t say I have seen this bird but it’s wonderful to see it here. Beautiful and calming.
Good sky watch, I really like the reflection and catching the bird in the shot.
I just love you photo. bravo!
My first trip to Barnegat Light, NJ. A good place.
What an amazing composition, truly gorgeous!
Amazing the different planes in this photo that slowly pull together

Great shot…
Stunning shot Mike, love the fantastic reflection and framing
That is a great capture with the relection of the bird in the water.
Awesome photo, Mike.
I may not get out birding, because I’m taking a photo class on Sunday. So at least I’ll fun, even if I’m not outside.
Amazing photo. Such a crystal clear reflection. I’m on vacation, so I’m birding somewhere in New Mexico this weekend, mostly around Santa Fe and Albuquerque. Then on to the Festival of the Cranes during the week.
What a spectacular picture.
Hey everyone, many thanks for all the great comments – I have to admit I’m quite proud of this one! Cheers.
