Many of us in the United States feel like we just had a weekend, when we really only enjoyed a pyrotechnic mid-week holiday. Early summer surely feels like the season that keeps on giving! Fortunately, nature lovers usually know how to take advantage of extra time to ramble and roam.
I saw spectacular lake birds yesterday, so I’ll likely stay in the city this weekend to visit one of Rochester’s multifarious festivals. Corey couldn’t comb the coast of NYC last weekend, so anticipate some sort of psychotic sea watch from him! How about you? Where will you be this weekend and will you be birding? Share your plans in the comments below!
Whatever your plans this weekend, make time to enjoy SkyWatch Friday. Also be sure to come back Monday to share your best bird of the weekend!
Enjoy moody skyscapes like this brooding vista over Lake Bukhtarma in Kazakhstan

Great shot.
With record breaking 100+ degree temps continuing here in Michigan, I’ll be recording any birds that can be seen from the windows of my air-conditioned house.
I’m with Kirby on this one. In PA the forecast is for 100 degrees (up from a mere 97), and the only birds I will likely see are my free-ranging chickens!
I’m with Kirby and Carolyn. Going out birding when it is supposed to be 100 F just doesn’t seem like a good choice. I think I’ll stay home and watch the fledgling grackles and starlings in my yard and the Chimney Swifts overhead.
