So there it is… August is gone. With it go those lazy days of summer, at least here in North America. Most of our students have either returned to school or resume after the coming three-day weekend. Monday marks the unofficial final day of summer. How are you going to spend this weekend and will you be birding? Share your plans in the comments below.
The family and I hope to enjoy a spot of camping. I just got my Canon lens recalibrated and ready to rock so there will be photos. Corey will be upstate visiting the family for the weekend and hoping to finally get Ruffed Grouse, Pileated Woodpecker, and Eastern Screech Owl for the year. Charlie, on the other hand, will be back at the manor again, probably reviewing books 🙁
Whatever your plans this weekend, make time to enjoy SkyWatch Friday. Also be sure to come back Monday to share your best bird of the weekend!

We will have a relaxing birding weekend around Grayson Highlands, Virgina. Oh, such a lovely place. Our favorite sites to llok for birds is Fairview Valley, Grindstone Campground and Comer’s Creek. I am sure we might even bird up at White Top Mountain (second highest peak in VA). We always see ravens up there.
I’ll be in London visiting friends. So my birding depends on them. But given that they are friends I made on a conservation biology course, we may make it to Barnes Wetland Centre.
Beautiful SkyWatch photo
Happy SWF! Have a nice weekend,
Regards, Bram

Not much this weekend (the playgrounds of Leimen, I guess), but next week I have a business trip to ESTONIA!
Y – E – S !!
I’ve signed on for a walk at the Marshlands Conservatory in Rye, NY with the primary object being hummingbirds! (I missed this walk last year, so I am hell-bent on my first-ever hummingbirds) Hopefully the residue of Hurricane Earl won’t get in the way. If nothing else, I guess we’ll get some shorebirds, which I could definitely brush up on.
What a cool shot! I love the dolphins in the corner like that.
Good birding (and skywatching)!!!
Nice shot of the dolphins. This weekend we are staying around the house. Hopefully something will visit our bird feeder. We had nuthatches yesterday.
